UQ Science Orientation Day is your introduction to uni life at Gatton. You’ll hear from academic staff and current students, get a feel for what your program looks like and start making connections with the people you’ll be studying alongside. It’s a great way to feel a bit more confident, informed and ready to kick off the semester!

If you don’t manage to catch us during O-Week, you can also visit us at our Market Day stall on Tuesday, the 24th of February!

It is your official welcome to the School and Vet Community - the first of many great memories you will have throughout your degree. You will be welcomed by the Head of School and will get to meet some of your great lecturers, who you will encounter throughout your years. The UQ VSA will also be eagerly waiting to introduce ourselves and meet you all.

The Expo is a key part of Orientation Week, bringing together university services, student groups and external organisations to welcome new students. Students can explore support services, clubs and opportunities across the science community, connect with stallholders, ask questions, and receive their free lunch!

It’s a great chance to meet people and be part of the start-of-semester buzz.

Vets For Life

VFL is happening on the 26th of February 2026 (Thursday, Week 1).

This One-Day Leadership Experience is brought to you by Hill’s Pet Nutrition and Vets For Life. It is definitely not something to be missed! The purpose of this event is to allow you to develop some interpersonal skills, learn more about yourself as well as your peers and lecturers. As an added bonus, you get a day free from classes! You will also get loads of tips and advice on how to get through the next 5 years of vet school from seniors, new graduates, experienced veterinarians and professors. This will be the first step in preparing you for your future veterinary career!
