O-Week UQ (Gatton Campus)

O-Week UQ (Gatton Campus)

The University of Queensland hosts a week-long list of events and activities for all programs, including the vet program.

You can download the list of building ‘slang’ here

The days to note for 2024 are Wednesday 14th Feburary and Thursday 15th Feburary.

On Wednesday our program specific welcome is in Animal Studies (Building 8150, room 153) where there will be a couple of important talks, including by our Head of School (Professor Nigel Perkins). The UQVSA will have a quick chat to you as well. You don’t have to participate, but at least show up on Wednesday and watch! Make sure you contact UQ in between to get all the info you need to know for starting at UQ Gatton!

On Thursday the 15th Feb, is the Clubs and Societies Pool Party down at UQ sport Gymnasium and Pool. Here is where you can not only come for a swim but also meet and mingle with some of the amazing clubs that Gatton has to offer.

On Tuesday the 20th of Feb from 4-8pm, the main event is Gatton Market Day. Come visit us at the UQVSA stall and sign up if you haven’t already!

Vets For Life (VFL)

Bonus! There is no class on Thursday in the first week of first year. For 2024, this will be the 22nd of February. Instead, the School of Veterinary Science (SVS) along with student volunteers and the UQVSA hold a free day camp for all first-year BVSc (Hons) students. This is a great chance to get to know your fellow colleagues who you will see day-in-day-out for the next five years, and likely for the rest of your natural life.

Have a look in your welcome package for more information, and remember to contact vetenquiries@uq.edu.au for more information and any questions you have.
