Freya Domrow

Freya grew up near Ipswich and later moved to Fernvale, driven by her passion for horses. Before vet school, she completed a BSc at Gatton in 2022, having initially started an Advanced Maths degree. Outside of her studies, Freya can often be found riding her horses or hitting the gym for early morning sessions. She is particularly interested in equine surgery and hopes to gain experience both in Australia and overseas. Freya is passionate about the opportunities and friendships that vet school offers and encourages students to get involved, build connections and make the most of their time at university.

Coco Albert

Coco moved around a fair bit growing up, but is most familiar with Boreen Point, just over two hours north of Brisbane. Before vet school, she studied engineering and developed a love for animals and medicine that ultimately led her to pursue veterinary science. Coco is interested in mixed practice with a focus on reproduction, but they have recently also discovered a passion for internal medicine. She also hopes to return to uni in the future to help teach the next generation of vets. Coco values the camaraderie and unique experiences that come with studying veterinary science and encourages students to balance study with social connections and hands-on learning.

Laura Gordon

Laura is from the Gold Coast and has loved animals since a young age, growing up with pets and taking horse-riding lessons. She has always known she wanted to work with animals, and her goal is to pursue a career in mixed practice after graduating, enjoying the variety it brings. Laura values the friendships and support that come from studying veterinary science and encourages students to get involved, explore the industry, and find a balance between study and life outside uni.

Nahrain Kadhem

Nahrain was born in Sydney but has called Brisbane home from an early age. She loves spending time outdoors, enjoying nature, and being with friends. A passion for animals and helping people led her to veterinary science, and she is excited by the variety of roles a vet can take on, from GP to surgeon or pathologist. Nahrain plans to start her career in mixed practice, embracing every opportunity to explore her interests. She values the friendships and connections made at Gatton and encourages students to get involved, enjoy the journey, and make the most of their time at university.

Celeste Sun-Miller

Celeste grew up in Toowoomba before moving to a hobby farm south of Gatton in 2018. She completed high school online and started veterinary school in 2023. Outside of uni, she enjoys tutoring, spending time with friends, pursuing hobbies, and staying active at the school gym. Celeste loves being involved in committees as a way to give back to the community and connect with others. She discovered her passion for veterinary medicine through work experience and is considering a future in pathology, emergency or mixed practice. Celeste values the friendships and memories made at uni and encourages students to make the most of their time at Gatton.

Vivienne Bevan

Vivienne grew up in South Africa surrounded by animals and moved to Brisbane at 15, later settling in Gatton with her partner and their rescue Greyhound, Yoyo. She originally pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama before discovering her passion for veterinary medicine through pet sitting. Vivienne is fascinated by all areas of veterinary science, and is keeping her career options open, considering mixed practice, emergency work, and possibly future specialisation. She values the friendships, learning experiences, and support found in vet school and encourages students to embrace every opportunity, no matter their prior experience.

Matt Dunne

Matt grew up in Brisbane. He enjoys playing AFL and working in warehouses in his free time. Originally studying Agricultural Science, Matt discovered his passion for veterinary medicine through conversations with other vet students and lecturers. He is excited by the wide range of career paths in veterinary science, from mixed practice to emergency work or international opportunities. Matt values the personal growth, friendships, and experiences that vet school offers and encourages students to get involved and make the most of every opportunity.

Christy Tang

Christy was born and raised in Hong Kong and spent part of her high school years on the Gold Coast, which sparked her love for exploring new places. Growing up an athlete, she competed in long jump and 400m. She currently has two pugs. Christy’s interest in veterinary medicine grew after personal experiences with her own pets, inspiring her to focus on animal welfare and education, particularly for brachycephalic breeds. She is exploring career paths in companion animal surgery or equine practice. Christy values the supportive community at Gatton and encourages students to embrace their own journey, ask for help when needed, and make the most of their time at vet school.
